Finding opponents at your level
Every player wears a color-coded name tag showing roughly how experienced they are. Look for someone with the same color and ask for a game — it's the easiest way to find a good match, whether you're brand new or coming back after years away.
Your first visit
1. RSVP on Chess67
It's free. Registering just helps us know how many boards and seats to set out.
2. Arrive at RISE Coffee & Tea
Check in with Roswell Chess and pick up your color-coded name tag.
3. Find a game
Look for a player near your level, or just ask who wants to play.
4. Stay as long as you like
Play one game or several. Leave whenever you want.
Played online but never in person?
Plenty of players learn online first. Over-the-board chess is the same game — with a real opponent across the table. Meetups are a relaxed place to make that switch, and we sometimes offer free coaching and game tips.
Common Questions
- Do I need to bring a chessboard?
- No. We set out boards and seats based on RSVPs, which is why we ask you to register on Chess67.
- What if I come alone?
- Most people do at some point. Meetups are designed for meeting new players, and the name tags make it easy to start a game.
- Is it really free?
- Yes. Casual meetups are free. Only tournaments and some special events have a fee.
